So for obvious reasons Ive been wanting upgrade to Windows 10 on my laptop. However, for other reasons that aren't necessarily relevant I DO want to keep Windows 8 on it... interesting predicament. I was wondering if anyone has experience dual booting operating systems on a laptop or in general. I'm assuming it's fairly simple? (Install 10 ISO on a USB Drive, create a partition in system memory, etc. Etc.)I'm sure I'm not the only one to think of this, but I just wanted to get people's opinions and experiences. Thanks so much.

You might face activation problems with Windows 10 if it matches the same key as Windows 8.1

You can't unless you purchase a fresh Windows 8 key, since upgrading to Windows 10 locks the key to that version and removes your Windows 8 license.

Exploring alternative approaches to stay ahead of changes in the tech landscape. Considering Microsoft's limited response, downloading a Windows 7 ISO and upgrading to Windows 10 from there could offer a viable path. Trying dual boot might provide flexibility moving forward.

Dual boot is manageable, you'll discover a solution... Ultimately you'll require two licenses. More intriguing for me is the outcome if you use the same Microsoft account on both operating systems...

Open disk management, set up a new partition, and choose it during installation of 10. Very straightforward.

Yes, it's quite straightforward... If you're okay with messing things up, it's actually pretty easy... Dual boot isn't that complicated...
