Approximately 30 frames per second for a 200k city feels reasonable. It reminds me of playing Cities: Skylines 1 once more.

You're likely using more CPU than I am—your system has a 7920X with 12 cores and a 200k+ city CPU, which is definitely keeping up, though the game isn't running at high frames. It's not extremely smooth, but it's not terrible either. Sometimes you see odd traffic patterns that cause delays, but performance hasn't dropped significantly. I haven't tried fixing it yet.

The game is heavily optimized, and the creators are aware of it. GN has conducted a thorough benchmark to test its performance, meaning your results match what you'd expect at this stage.

Extremely streamlined and the entire CS world relying on gaming performance between 15-30 for the past eight years is both amusing and bittersweetBig GrinD

On my PC with over 200k, the graphics don't match CIMS calculations, which keeps FPS steady around 30 but makes animations lag as numbers grow. At 300k, I have to wait a second or two for anything to move when zooming in. No bus or tram arrived, so CIMS just waits. You should consider building a subway. Most of the work remains to be done.

Linus was testing an early version of the game, likely alpha or pre-alpha. The numbers shown in that video shouldn't be used for comparison. FPS might reflect your GPU handling different workloads rather than typical gaming. I don’t own the game myself, but a streamer named Biffa played it with 5800X3D/128GB/4090, 4K resolution, all at maximum detail and 60fps. Of course, the city he builds in videos stays under 20k, so CPU usage hasn’t been a concern yet.

I’ve only reached up to a 30k large city and don’t know why everyone’s talking. The game runs smoothly at 1080 medium on my 1185g7 with a 3060, giving around 30fps or less. I loaded it onto my integrated GPU for a screenshot since I’m away from home, but it drops to about 12fps on a T500. My city has no taxes or service fees and is profitable thanks to fourteen coal power stations and others producing roughly 1.5GW.
