I recently brought my laptop back to life by swapping the motherboard, opting instead of Windows to run PopOS as my daily operating system. With years of Linux experience from my web development role, I’m confident in handling both Linux and PopOS. Everything seems to be functioning well except for audio output. No apps or system sounds through the internal speakers. The headphone jack is working fine. I’ve been searching online and testing various solutions without success. I followed the PulseAudio Volume Control instructions and installed the app, but the Speakers section in Output shows as unavailable. When I select them and adjust volume, a brief beep confirms they’re active. The inxi-A command reveals the system is loading the snd_hda_intel driver, and the audio chipset model is Conexant CX20751/2. I’ve attempted to set the model to generic, auto, or ideapad in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf, but it still defaults to using the headphone jack. Despite everything being fresh and up-to-date, there’s no audio output. I’m hoping there’s a fix I’m missing. This lack of sound is frustrating. I’ve attached screenshots of the app outputs and commands for reference. According to what I read online, it might be related to a recent Ubuntu update switching from Pulseaudio to Pipewire. My laptop is a Lenovo IdeaPad 510 15ISK-80SR with a fresh PopOS installation. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Thomas.
