Pop os question
Pop os question
I watched the video and decided to try Pop-OS on a USB stick. But in demo mode, Steam installation fails completely—downloads until halfway and then freeze without progress. The only app that works is Gnome Tweaks. It seems Pop-OS might be running in demo mode, or there’s an issue with the setup. I also tried using the terminal and ran "sudo apt install steam," but got an error message that needs attention. Help would be greatly appreciated.
The current version has restrictions. Not all features will be available.
Execute apt update with sudo. For clarity, the error messages are here to assist new users—they’re quite helpful.
I understood your confusion. You were wondering about the exact command to refresh the package list, and you didn’t want to guess randomly. Please let me know if you need further help!
Also, it's not advised to use a live version of popos; you might find success with an updated install.
Commonly used apt commands include updating to match repositories (to avoid 404 errors) and upgrading all installed packages to the newest version. Installing a package or updating multiple packages at once is straightforward. Using the search keyword helps find packages with relevant keywords in their name or description. You can replace "apt-get" with "apt" for a cleaner command, as they function similarly but are easier to type.
Thank you for your assistance. I intend to try setting up Pop-OS on an external SSD capable of booting multiple machines. I’ll probably create another post later asking for guidance on that setup since I’m still figuring out the details. Appreciate the helpful advice!
