Poor user performance metrics observed.
Hi everyone, I just ran a user benchmark on my Dell XPS 15 7590 and found that the CPU, GPU, SSD, and RAM weren’t meeting expectations. I’ve checked all drivers, updated the BIOS, adjusted thermal and battery settings, but the results are still disappointing. Anyone have any insights into what might be causing this?
Userbenchmark may not reflect the true capabilities of a system.
The Dell XPS models experience significant throttling issues. Install ThrottleStop and capture screenshots showing the FIVR and TPL windows during throttling. Userbenchmark might be controversial, but it highlights the problem. Intel’s turbo boost isn’t activating. Enable the Log File feature on ThrottleStop’s main screen to keep a log of your CPU performance. Include a log file in your upcoming posts. Cinebench provides a reliable benchmark and makes it simple to compare performance across similar laptops.
Why is Disable Turbo flagged in ThrottleStop? It lowers performance of a 9750H by 35%. Clear the box. In the Options window, select Nvidia GPU so details appear in the log file. Play a game for 15 minutes. After testing, exit ThrottleStop to finalize your log file. Include this file in your next post. Show screenshots of the FIVR and TPL windows. Did you run Cinebench R23 or R20? What does ThrottleStop indicate for C0% when your computer is idle at the desktop? 0.5% to 1.0% is typical. Excess background tasks can hurt performance.
Your maximum package output indicates 37.5w on a CPU with a 45w power delivery, likely because turbo isn't enabled. Changing the power cap doesn't help much. In games, using one core at 2.6ghz versus 4.5ghz turbo will make a big difference. Because of thermal effects, slightly reducing voltage can improve overall performance as long as stability is maintained. You can try Intel xtU to adjust it.
