Hello. I'm facing an issue with downloading large files. I'm trying to get a 12GB ZIP archive from a website. This is my first attempt using Chrome, and the download speed never exceeded 150kb/s. That's really slow considering my 10 megabit connection and typical speeds of up to 1.2 mb/s. I don't have an antivirus installed. I've tried Chrome and Firefox too, but the speed remained the same. When I started a Steam download in parallel with the archive, it reached about 800 kb/s, while the browser download slowed down. I suspect there might be a speed limit involved. Thanks for any help you can offer.

The problem could lie with the website itself. Their upload speed might be capped at 150 Kb/s, preventing faster downloads.

Have you tried downloading it on a different machine? Was the performance consistent or varied?

ISPs seldom disclose the exact bandwidth you’re charged for (especially in the U.S.). The problem might stem from the site itself, particularly if it’s a small platform or friend-hosted. Ensure your router connection is solid, your device isn’t outdated, and you haven’t exceeded your monthly data limit.

I attempted to download on my phone, but the speed remains near 250 kb/s, indicating a possible problem with the website.

I discovered a completely different solution on Google Drive. The download speed was affected by a website problem.
