Poor frame rate and instability problems
Poor frame rate and instability problems
Hi there, I'm looking for some advice. I've been using this computer for a while, upgraded to a 3070, but still face low FPS and unstable performance. I've updated drivers, reset Windows, restarted the machine. My CPU was benchmarked at 2485.2, which is lower than the reference 2648, though that shouldn't be huge. Temperatures look normal. My system specs include an i7-7700k CPU, a Noctua DH15s RAM (16GB), an RTX 3070 GPU, and an EVGA XC3 SSD. I mainly play Smite and Valorant. Smite often drops to around 90-144 FPS on medium/low settings, causing tearing, while Valorant at low settings gives about 165 FPS. The FPS estimator suggests I should be seeing 367 on high settings. Could anyone share any insights or solutions? I'm currently on medical leave and can't afford to replace the CPU, motherboard, or RAM.
I encountered the same issue with 1080 resolution, and it doesn’t seem like a limitation, considering the low graphics settings would likely handle it.
When you ran at low settings on that older i3 model—don’t mention it’s an i7—the performance was limited, even for a 1080 card. Switching to a more powerful card still caused noticeable slowdowns because the newer one is much more constrained. The 3070 might also struggle with lower power modes, making things worse.
