Poor frame rate and frequent lag issues
Poor frame rate and frequent lag issues
Hello! I have a problema that I can't solve at myself. My PC is having extremely low perfomance in every application. My setup: - AsRock H310CM-HG4 - Intel Pentium Gold G5600 3.9 GHz - AMD RX 560 4GB Biostar - 8GB Ram 2133 Mhz and SSD 512 GB m.2 nvme running on adapter I tried everything already, up to the most recent driver and the oldest possible (clean install with DDU) to everything reset, including gpu reset with alchool and BIOS reset AND update (tried all BIOS versions). I really can't find my problem. Every game I try to play, I get constant stuttering and lag spikes. I'm about to sell this shit out or call the Winchesters brothers. Other informations: My motherboard have 2 PCI Express, one is x16 3.0 that I'm running the video card, that is x8. And the other is 2.0 x1, that is running the SSD with an adapter. Everything is fine with this setup, whould only be a problem if the video card was x16. My Pentium run at x16 too and I have 2 fans actives on my setup.
This setup underperforms mainly due to its basic hardware configuration. The 2.0 X1 slot paired with an NVMe drive isn't fast enough for modern tasks, making it noticeably slower than a standard SSD. It's not ideal, but it should function adequately.
In Overwatch 2 I maintain steady 60 frames even with certain settings at maximum performance. If I lower the FPS cap, it jumps to over 120... Yet when I start moving or something appears on the screen, the FPS plummets rapidly. Also, I’m curious about this: it only happens once per in-game animation that’s being rendered—like when I first fire a character or activate an ability. This same issue appeared in Valorant, though I’m not sure what causes it. I’ve attempted to capture my screen using MSI stats, but recording slows down even more on my PC. What I can share is that during gameplay, my CPU can reach 100% while my GPU fluctuates between 40-70 or drops to zero, and sometimes stabilizes around 55-65%. When this second event happens, my FPS improves, but whenever my CPU usage spikes and my GPU drops, the game and audio freeze.
Do you possess one stick of RAM at all? Also, look into the BIOS—there seems to be an issue with the number of threads displayed on the CPU. Essentially, you have a dual-core processor with hyperthreading. Games haven't taken that kind of CPU design seriously since around 2013. For instance, Battlefield 4 already faced problems with those i3 chips back then. Your office PC CPU in a gaming setup simply won’t perform well; it lacks the capacity and will struggle significantly.
I’m using a single DDR4 2133 RAM module. I understand my system isn’t great, but I need to fix any issues right away so I can still enjoy games without too much hardware strain until I can afford an upgrade. Right now, something is not functioning properly. In fact, I can’t play any game smoothly, experiencing very high lag in everything.
I identified the issue. My Windows 10 installation on the HD was corrupted, even after trying to format the partitions. As a result, during startup, half of my cores and threads were directed to Windows 10. It seems to be an error from me, but I successfully removed the Windows 10 registry via msconfig. Thanks for your assistance!
