You've recently relocated from a city apartment to a suburban area in Australia. You're experiencing changes in your online performance, especially during games. Your connection speed is decent overall, but latency spikes and inconsistent ping values are affecting your gaming experience. The issue seems tied to network conditions rather than just your router setup. Using USB tethering worsens latency on Speedtest but improves game latency, suggesting the problem lies with your internet provider or specific routing paths. Consider checking your ISP plan, exploring alternative connections, and possibly using a dedicated VPN for gaming if speed isn't sufficient.

Check the path using a trace route to the game server.

Have you attempted to set up DNS manually in Windows? If not, consider giving it a shot. Follow these instructions: I've compiled the screenshots into a PDF file Screenshot 2022-05-02 115210-converted.pdf

Ping reflects how far a server is from your location. The farther it is, the higher the number will be. If network traffic gets busy or a cable is damaged, packets may take longer paths, raising the ping. Local equipment changes usually don’t help much. Switching ISPs could work if they offer a more direct connection to Asia. Using a VPN might assist if it reroutes traffic more efficiently. Otherwise, the best you can do is join a game server nearer your area.

Thanks for the feedback. I attempted a few DNS settings but ended up with reduced pings yet increased gaming lag. Are you expecting me to explore various DNS configurations?

I was worried about this possibility. I think I should test the higher-rated ISPs nearby to check if it really improves things. Appreciate the details!

I just tried it out, do you think it helps? The main thing I’m thinking is checking how different ISPs route traffic compared to others for faster paths.

I guessing you're playing Genshin Impact on Japan server? If it a routing issue, usually VPN could fix it. You can try download Cloudflare Warp and check if the routing change. https://cloudflarewarp.com Also you can try clearing your system DNS cache by opening an elevated cmd prompt and run ipconfig /flushdns
