Hey everyone, I'm about to replace my VM and dive into a fresh Nix build. For the desktop, what's your choice between GNOME and KDE?

Gnome has some strengths, but I favor KDE. On a netbook, I’d definitely go with KDE.

KDE attempts to mimic Apple's style, emphasizing looks and excitement over a simple, reliable user experience.

It's common to see this kind of reaction online. I'm starting with KDE for the first time because I haven't used it often, but I'm ready to make a quick switch if needed.

I favor Gnome mainly due to its keyboard-centric design.

I tried Gnome on an OpenSUSE system and liked it. It seems KDE has more active developers, while the Gnome team is facing issues with the refresh rate settings compared to KDE.
