I suggest using Arch for a server without a window manager. This might sound unusual, but window managers can strain your system. Taking them out improves performance significantly. Your current hardware isn’t suitable for a server, but you should be able to get the CPU and it will run better. However, your specs won’t support perfect operation. Still, keep in mind you’re aiming for a server, not a high-performance machine even with upgrades. If you prefer not to invest, it’s understandable. Upgrades can be costly.
