In 2013 I assembled a PC with an i7 4820K, a Kingston Beast 2x8GB 2400MHz RAM, and an Asus Rampage IV Black Edition running Windows 8.1 when it was released. After the update to Windows 10, the system booted randomly during startup, freezing under the Windows logo. I reset it several times, but it still took about 10 minutes to get going. I’ve talked with others about this issue. I’m considering overclocking, but a BIOS update in my system revealed that my RAM is only running at 1333MHz despite being rated for 2400MHz. When I tried to force it to run at full speed, it wouldn’t boot at all. A RAM tester indicated no issues, so it might be related to the RAM speed problem or a potential corruption from the updates. If you have more details, let me know.
