Please Explain Star Citizen
Crowd-funding is the sole source of funding for Star Citizen’s development. There are no publisher contributions or corporate backing—just supporters like us. Unfortunately, in-game items and early access can’t be traded directly for everyday goods; people have to pay instead. This approach feels strange and completely different. After launch, you can join as a mercenary for NPCs or for players and groups ready to hire you.
is anything happening with this game yet? Id like to know except I'm not eager to wait for a ten hour download..
The "Around the verse" series by CIG on YouTube features regular weekly releases, offering clear insights into current projects from various studios, accompanied by visuals, clips, and interviews. @Napper198 provides a detailed summary for each episode in this forum thread, noting that the videos typically exceed 30 minutes.
The game costs $60 to start, and after losing your ship you’re charged another $60. I noticed some ships are priced around $18k, which is pretty high. It feels unfair that you have to buy new ships with real money whenever they get destroyed. Most players can’t afford that. I’m okay spending $100 on a game I’ll keep using, but paying for in-game items isn’t something I really support.
The game ends mean real-money purchases aren't possible for ships. Only in-game currency can be used, though with restrictions.
You'll lose your ship only if it lacks insurance, which is cheap to maintain and varies by vessel type. Insurance costs are covered using in-game funds as well.
You purchase a game bundle that includes the game, a ship, and some accessories. There are bundles for Star Citizen and Squadron 42, but they now require extra fees (making the cheapest option $60). 2) Right now there’s only potential; most features are limited. 3) The situation is uncertain, but it could grow significantly. 4) It’s quite small at present, making predictions difficult, but it seems to expand soon. 5) Your choice matters—focusing on one skill or gameplay style will yield better ships than a basic starter. 6) If you’re only into the mobile titles, check out the Aurora-MR-SC Starter package here. For both Star Citizen and Squadron 42, consider the Aurora-MR-Star-Citizen-Squadron-42 Combo. 7) Insurance covers your ship if it gets damaged or destroyed (though modifications aren’t included). 8) Yes, in-game currency exists now and will continue; microtransactions and real money purchases won’t be available in the final version. Currently, ship purchases are rewards for pledges, not actual sales. 9) Freefly weekends happen occasionally—watch the RSI site for updates. 10) Refunds have been issued, but this is more of a giveaway than a purchase, since you’re essentially lending the game.
As it has been said thats not how it works When the game launches you buy the game, all ships you get will be in game ships with in game money, if your ship is blown up its not replaced without insurance and you need to buy it with in game money again. with insurance it'll be replaced. Also no ship is priced at $18,000. it is a pledge to help fund the game, that is what you are paying for. The ship is a thank you for doing that. As I said when the game drops no one will by able to buy that ship with RT money it will need to be bought in game.
