Playing stuttering game while playing COD MW2 2022
Hey, so for about the last few days playing multiplayer in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 has been a little choppy here and there. Playing on single player works fine, so I don't think it's a graphics issue. My driver is version 522.25, so that can't be the problem. I'm pretty sure it isn't my CPU either because my laptop isn't getting hot while I play. I just hope this is something wrong with the game itself and not my computer. Thanks in advance! Yeah, I've heard that the new update and even the latest Nvidia GPU drivers have helped cut down on stutters in this game and make it run smoother too. According to Nvidia: The newest Game Ready Driver Version 526.86 WHQL gives the best gaming experience for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. Specifically, this new driver makes things more stable, fixes image corruption issues, and helps support NVIDIA DLSS Super Resolution and NVIDIA Reflex. I'm buying this game next week because I really like playing COD single player campaigns.
If single player mode works great, then most probably the problem lies with multiplayer or online features. You can try asking about this at the official Call of Duty forums just in case it is a common issue. Although, one very easy way to stop stuttering and frame drops on PC for Modern Warfare 2 has been turning off texture streaming. You will find this setting under Visual Settings. Simply toggle on-demand texture streaming from ON to OFF. As the menu says, when you turn this on, high quality textures download as you play the game. Turning it off stops that process and only shows local textures instead, which should give a smoother experience, but sometimes it does not fix things completely. Texture Streaming actually uses your internet connection to download game assets while you are playing. The exact same stutters were happening in MW 2019 as well. The game runs fine until you start seeing frequent small lags like micro stutters. This fix below can help sometimes. It should also work for Modern Warfare 2. Go to Documents, then call of duty, players, and right-click on "options.3.3cod22.cst". Then select open with Notepad. Scroll to the very end and find RendererWorkerCount. Change that value to the number of your CPU physical cores. The number you enter should be half the total threads on your CPU. The default setting is 4. Then press Ctrl+S to save those changes. Now launch the game and test if it improves things.
