I first used a laptop with an I5, but it wasn’t performing well, so switching to a desktop felt necessary. Now, because I’m hesitant about giving the new Ryzen rig to my partner, I need to reuse an older machine. My main concern is picking between the two processors we have. I have two motherboards with the processors you mentioned. The 2600k comes with a strong aftermarket cooler from Cooler Master and has two PCIe express slots for multi-GPU use. On the other hand, I’m planning to pair it with 16 GB of 1600MHz DDR3 RAM and an RX 580 8GB graphics card. The power supply is a 700W Corsair 85+ model. Now I just need your advice—what should I choose? Should I go for the cooler or the other specs? Also, can I still use crossfire? Would it work better now than before? 01-22-2017, 01:22 PM #2Multi-GPU is almost obsolete, so we’ll skip that. The CPU might struggle with streaming, right? Can the board fit the 2600k in an OC? What’s the model of the 700W 85+ Corsair? If it fits and runs well, streaming might be possible; otherwise, go with the 3770. In any case, using the GPU for encoding streams would be your best option.

02-07-2017, 12:48 AM #3Multi GPU isn't really useful since most games don't support it. Even with multiple GPUs, you'd still be using AMD cards, which limits your ability to use Nvenc effectively. The 3770 offers a bit more single-core speed compared to the 2600k, but the latter can be overclocked if the motherboard allows. Still, even with heavy overclocking, neither CPU will perform well for streaming. Both chips fall short of the minimum needs for modern games and are on outdated platforms—generally I wouldn't invest in either.

02-07-2017, 01:34 AM #4ignore the ones that don't scale well and don't offer much performance boost (though they barely do). What's the price? The performance gap isn't huge, but if the 3770 is a bit pricier, go for it. If it's much more expensive, choose the 2600k—especially if it's Z series. Definitely pick the 2600k!
