Hello. I'm attempting to play M&M8 on my Linux laptop (Ubuntu 20.04 LTS) with Wine and Lutris installed. The game starts fine except the screen turns black during the intro videos. Once a character is created and loaded, an object appears in the middle of the screen (refer to the attached photo). Is this related to the game, the operating system, or my computer? Thank you for your assistance.

It refuses to function under steam with proton. Launching from MM8.exe removes it, though the dash appears unpredictably each time the game transitions between intro, main menu, and play (possibly due to resolution changes).

Steam games run smoothly on Proton 5, but GOG titles seem to have issues with other Proton releases.

I was sharing some fun facts with a group of kids about Lutris and Steam. It’s one of those quirky debates about console versus PC gaming… people are talking about how stores no longer carry PC games anymore.
