I've been away from gaming for a while now. I'm considering getting a couple of Steam controllers and a Steam link so we can play games together in the family room. My main concerns are whether there are still many multiplayer options, if several controllers can work together, and if Steam is a good choice. Of course, if it doesn't work out, a console would be better, but I'd rather not.

There are similar games like trine, so real-life multiplayer is still possible. Because latency isn't a big issue for these games, it's actually a good approach.

Yes, you can connect a single PC to one TV and share the same game with everyone.

The relevant term is "local multiplayer games". Here’s a summary of those available on PC: http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/List_of_Loc...ayer_Games. Steam typically includes most of them; just open Steam and filter for full controller support. This should provide the experience you’re after. Console feel is also achievable.

It seems you're seeking confirmation. The only sure method is to check directly.
