On the epic games launcher, the keybindings seem unusual and the game switches between keyboard and controller frequently. On Steam, this issue doesn't occur. You probably don't need to adjust your Steam settings unless you want specific changes.

Steam allows you to use a controller as the default input. The game settings often contain a configuration for this. You can assign buttons and other controls accordingly. Steam also featured a controller called the Steam Controller, which used circular trackpads rather than traditional sticks. I prefer it. Others didn’t like it, though—it had some unusual settings that still impact certain games even after the product stopped being sold.
