Playing games at a slower pace with a fresh, stable setup
CPU model: 7800X3D, RAM: DDR5 2*16, GPU: 7800XT, SSD type M.2, built from scratch, drivers updated. Performance is slow and the visuals are unsatisfactory when playing games like "Tiny Tina's Wonderlands," "Valorant," "Apex," or "League of Legends." Even at 1080p it struggles, dropping to around 22 FPS. You seem confident the hardware is fine, but something is missing. The setup costs a lot less than the GPU price.
A lot of things might be missing first - Can you check if xmp enabled then resize bar. Then check if there is a temp issue. If cooler didn't mount properly or a bad cooler then you hit thermal throttle. A pic of built too please.
Confirm the cooler installation. Monitor temperatures during cinebench r23 using hwinfo64 (sensors only). Verify the expo setting in BIOS. Adjust it back to auto if you modified anything. Provide your remaining details such as RAM speed, additional coolers, case information, etc.
Besides the two helpful tips, I used some benchmark tools. Cinebench r23 was run on the CPU with Unigene superposition at maximum settings for 1080p. The GPU should be monitored closely, as temperatures above 85°C will cause thermal throttling. Temperatures over 95°C on the CPU follow the same pattern. If performance is poor, we can investigate further to identify the issue.
You might already have wondered where the cable linking the monitor is connected to the PC. If it’s attached to the motherboard, it relies on built-in graphics. For direct GPU access, plug it straight into the GPU itself.
