Hello, how are you? I'm considering jumping onto the GSync trend. I was thinking about getting the Swift at 144hz with 1440p resolution. But then I read about many problems with monitors, which made me dig a bit deeper... I started looking at benchmarks for recent AAA titles and noticed most of them hit around 70-75 fps at 1440p max settings. The same games at 1080p can reach 110-120 fps. If I lower the settings slightly, 144 fps is possible at 1080p, but it's tougher at 1140p... This leads me to wonder—should I enjoy games at 1080p with frame rates over 120, or opt for higher resolution and settle for about 70 fps? I particularly like action games and shooters. My favorites include Far Cry 3 & 4, Assassin's Creed IV, Tomb Raider, Battlefield 4, Skyrim, Witcher, and similar titles. What do you think? Cheers!
It varies based on your needs. For me, 60hz at a higher resolution works well, especially if you're not playing extremely competitive games like BF4 at professional levels. Unless you're using top-tier settings, 120+hz isn't necessary. It also relies on your hardware—what GPUs are available to you. I should mention that G-Sync is still in its early days, and I’d probably avoid it for a while. We haven’t figured out what G-Sync will become, so committing now might lock you into NVIDIA GPUs for years.
It's tough to run at 1440p with 144Hz, right? What graphics card are you using? Just checking your settings. I'm not sure if 970s can handle that resolution and refresh rate. I'd pick a monitor suited for the games you play.
