Playing Arkham Knight in 2020 but experiencing significant frame rate drops!
When Arkham Knight launched on PC it presented several problems. I thought most of the issues had been resolved. Now, after five years, I’m experiencing significant FPS drops, especially while driving in the Batmobile.
I’m using a GTX 1060 and an i5 8300H. The game consistently fails to keep a steady 60 FPS, often dropping to between 50 and 60 FPS regardless of scene activity. During driving sequences, performance drops dramatically, sometimes reaching as low as 40 FPS.
I’ve updated the NVIDIA drivers and adjusted settings in the NVIDIA Control Panel. Temperatures remain normal. I’ve reduced graphics settings, turned off all NVIDIA Gameworks effects, disabled motion blur, anti-aliasing, and lowered shadows. Despite these changes, frame drops persist.
I’ve explored various online fixes, modified ini files, and tried methods like disabling V-Sync or using borderless windows. None have improved the situation. I’m following these resources:

I’m running out of options. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Even after the re-release, the game remains quite inefficient. Playing on a laptop significantly reduces its performance, especially with older components like the 8300 and 1060 compared to desktop versions. While it's still playable, the developers didn't fully highlight the hardware needs. Hitching in the Batmobile is typical. There are some adjustments mentioned in your third link, but the detailed edits were demonstrated there. If not implemented properly, those changes won't take effect. Many users have confirmed the modifications helped. However, laptops often struggle with overheating due to poor ventilation and dust buildup, so keep an eye on performance.

Keep an eye on CPU and GPU temperatures using tools like MSI Afterburner, ensuring they stay within safe limits while displaying real-time stats.
