I acquired a new controller yesterday and I really like it—it's my first, and I'm not very skilled at playing games with it. I'm searching for a 2D game but can't seem to get Cuphead working. Any suggestions for similar titles or something better? It doesn't have to be 2D, just avoid recommendations like NFS or Crysis.

Most people suggest playing platforming and racing titles. My controller arrived a few weeks back, and the games I’ve tried so far include Sonic Generations, Dirt 3, and Crazy Taxi.

No, that's too simplistic.

You've enjoyed Dirt 3 on Steam for a while, but it's starting to feel repetitive. Now you're diving into Forza Horizon 3, which offers a different kind of experience—something more about driving and exploration rather than racing.

I enjoy playing 3rd person RPGs using a controller. Assasins Creed, Witcher, and Skyrim are favorites. I favor controllers over a mouse and keyboard.

Trine 1 and 2 enjoy local multiplayer up to three players. Dirt 3, Blur, and Split Second let you use a split screen with kb or controller. Don Bradman Cricket 14 is great if you like cricket. Nioh +1 works well with Ori & the Blind Forest, and Brothers A Tale of Two Sons is a solid pick.

Other than online shooters, there are no other competitive shooters I know of. Most games requiring a controller seem to be racing titles, the Souls series, and The Witcher 3.
