Hi there, I tried to begin Borderlands 2 on Windows 10 again. When using Steam, the launcher would open but nothing happened after clicking "Play." After verifying the game files, I reinstalled it, though it didn’t work. Running the .exe as an administrator caused a message about xapofx1_5.dll having an issue. I downloaded another version of the required DLL and tried it, but the problem continued. Anyone have any ideas or solutions?

Consider placing it outside the standard program files or any Windows directory.

For a DirectX issue, ensure the one with BL2 is placed in "Borderlands 2\Binaries\Redist".

It's placed in a location outside the standard Windows directories. I attempted to install the DX files using the .exe that comes with Borderlands 2, but that didn't work. When verifying the game files' integrity via Steam, it consistently reports one corrupted file and automatically re-downloads it (9.4 MB). Even after fixing the issue, it still detects an error and downloads the same size file again.

I fixed it! I took out the xapofx1_5.dll from System32 and ran the DirectX Update App. That didn’t work either. Then I found that xapofx1_5.dll was also in the SysWow64 folder—the one meant for 32-bit programs. I removed both files and restarted the update tool. The files were reinstalled and Borderlands 2 started working again.
