Play a game in an entire room.
I share a home with my girlfriend and her nearly three-year-old son. We're still working on finding a way to balance time together with gaming. Occasionally, we all end up doing our own activities while in the same room. I'm looking for a game that helps me shift my attention away and isn't too intense. Runescape seems fun, so I'm wondering what others think about it in the forums.
Minecraft, sure it might seem a bit simple but it’s actually quite straightforward to shift your attention back into the game. Honestly, almost every pauseable game offers some kind of choice...
I don't believe Minecraft is overly simplistic, and that doesn't diminish its quality in my view. Still, I find the concept appealing. Pausing a game offers some choice, but it can also feel annoying. For instance, I have a Fallout 4 save set aside, and while the game is visually impressive with strong immersion potential, I often struggle to stay focused because I need to constantly switch back and forth.
I'm in the same situation. I mostly share a living space with my girlfriend and her toddler son. I enjoy playing Oldschool RuneScape. Usually I join clan events when they're both free, and then I do skill-building when they're back home so I can log off anytime without any issues.
It might suit your taste if something like ROTMG (realm of the mad god) appeals to you. I really enjoy it; you can't just pause in the middle while you're attacking enemies to earn XP. If you stay still, an enemy will eventually come and find you, leading to your death. You can rest briefly for a few minutes instead of staying for hours, but you can always use R to return to the nexus or lobby whenever needed.
