I felt really intrigued because I was feeling quite bored, and it’s a project I could enjoy. I wondered if it was actually feasible.

It seems to work on the same setup, like 1155, so you should be able to proceed. If not, the screw holes are likely different. Taking off the screen is a hassle and probably not worth it.

It could be possible, but I'm unsure if all the mounting points are in the same spot. Removing an iMac, particularly the 2012 and newer ones, to swap out a logic board isn't very enjoyable, so I wouldn't go through with it just for the sake of it.
