Hello, it looks like your pins got bent during installation on the ASUS B250M A motherboard with an Intel i5 10400F. I’m not sure if the board has manufacturing tolerances or if you made a mistake. Have you checked the installation guide or looked for any warnings about pin bending?

Unlikely to be a problem with the motherboard tolerance. It seems you might have made an error or missed something. You can gently bend the pins back if needed. I adjusted a few pins on a board I bent during cleaning some TIM from the socket, and it functioned properly.

I thought it was the same issue but noticed a big difference in resistance when flipping the lever. Plus, with some experience it’s hard to put a CPU in incorrectly now, which made me wonder if there was a rare defect. I can’t recreate the error from the other board. Thanks for your reply.

Please verify the compatibility—LGA 1200 CPU isn't supported by a 1151 socket motherboard.

It was actually just a joke. The B560M-a is what the MBO mentioned.

You might attempt to recreate the error of bending pins because it helps understand how the issue arises and find a solution.

since it's an old Dell motherboard, I don't mind. I believed recreating it on the original would help me avoid repeating the mistake, but I couldn't. I noticed that damaging a possibly already faulty board could teach me something valuable.
