I attempted to start my computer and received a message indicating an issue with the PIN. After clicking to set it, a loading icon appeared and after about 15 seconds it returned to the main screen. Repeating this several times, it seemed to try accessing the Microsoft page for resetting the PIN, but then reported no internet connection. This occurred following a reboot into safe mode.

This often occurs when Windows Hello PIN becomes corrupted after starting in Safe Mode. Try logging in using your standard Microsoft account password instead of the PIN. If that succeeds, adjust the PIN settings via Settings. If access remains blocked, proceed to Advanced Startup → Troubleshoot → Startup Settings, boot into Safe Mode with Networking, and resolve the issue there.

I recall a similar problem where Windows updates caused complications. There were many driver or update issues that auto-installed, so check the menu below for any updates around when you started experiencing problems. You can also access System > Recovery and attempt to repair Windows via Windows Update, though it might not help if the update itself was the cause. For unusual names like KBxxxx, search online to see which feature or device it impacts before removing it. Those who identified the exact version should already shared their experiences.
