Whose getting it? I almost forgot about this game after hearing about Obsidian trying to crowd fund it a few years ago. Reviews are out now though and the game looks utterly amazing. 92 on metacritic so far.
Same experience with Divinity: Original Sin. Widely praised, but if you can't enjoy similar titles, you might not like it much. Likely to play Pillars of Eternity soon, but currently too caught up in WoW raids.
I just purchased it on gog.com and started downloading right away. I've been feeling under the weather from the flu, so I thought it would be a good pick-me-up.
Most people saying its better than Wasteland 2 or Divinity Original Sin cant say im surprised considering its done by obsidian they are one best rpg dev's out there. They did south park which was really amazing imo and Fallout new vegas which was alot better than fallout 3 if you ask me it felt more like the older games in style.
I began playing a long time ago and I really enjoy the vibe so far. I'm just getting started but I feel the same classic vibe as Baldur's Gate 2 with a fresh twist on the engine that drove those titles. Most of the time I'm left empty-handed. Unlike many others, I don't want shooters, sports games, fighters, or hack-and-slash platformers. My preferred style is RPGs, and honestly I never liked the Witcher series (that protagonist was just awful). My options outside of typical MMOs have always been much narrower. This new release feels like a rare gem in a harsh landscape. Only these kinds of experiences offer the kind of immersive story I'm looking for—a grand adventure that can take hours and transport me to another world. These are the most escapist genres, and finally, my preferences are getting some recognition again. After the rough year of 2013, I earned it. I played Divinity: Original Sin last year and now I'm doing it again this year.
It's incredibly close to Baldur's Gate Interplay, almost like a legal dispute: the numbers are essentially the closest names we can come up with for D&D. Once you hear that battle music, it feels like a near-perfect echo of the BG2 track. Sure, this game has its own strengths, but it's unlikely anyone will find it easy to dive in due to its complexity and size. I'm absolutely thrilled.
Hehe, "trying" to crowdfund it. They got nearly 4 times what they asked for. It's damn great. Game of the year for anyone who loved the Baldur's Gate and related games.
I've been here for about an hour already. It's full of nostalgia. The only issue is I'm buried in around eight games, and MLB just dropped its new release, which is taking up most of my gaming time.
