This issue appears to be an older discussion, but I'm encountering the same challenge now... pfSense relies on the Intel (em*) driver. Broadcast traffic functions correctly, but unicast frames aren't being properly decapsulated. I can observe tagged frames on em1 (the "master" interface) yet not on em1.2. It's important to note that I'm actually using em1 on another bridge, which supports both tagged and untagged frames.
