Hello. I'm configuring a personal router using pfSense for my home network. My ISP Cox connects to a Netgear Nighthawk CM1000v2, which is linked to a mini PC running a Celeron J4125 with 8GB RAM and four 2.5GB ports. I've configured the 1 LAN and WAN interfaces; the LAN goes to a switch that powers all devices, including the access point (still pending setup). My computer is connected via the switch, and I've tested both networkchuck and Lawrence Systems' tutorials. Pfsense is installed version 2.6.0 for amd64. The WAN uses my public IP, while the LAN uses my local IP. DNS servers are set to 1.1.1.1 and 9.9.9.9. If you need further details, just let me know.
Verify network access from the firewall directly: Attempt a ping to 8.8.8.8 via Diagnostics > Ping. If unsuccessful, confirm correct WAN configurations, gateway settings, etc. Examine DNS settings: Use Diagnostics > DNS Lookup to check for pfsense.org. If issues persist, adjust or update the DNS configuration (Troubleshooting DNS Resolution). Establish firewall rules on the LAN interface on PFSENSE to permit all traffic. You may also test NAT by pinging 8.8.8.8 from the LAN source address (Diagnostics > Ping).
