I set up a PFSense box yesterday. The hardware includes a CPU of 3570k @3.4ghz, a P8Z77-V-LX2 motherboard with Realtek 8111F, four TP-Link gigabit NICs (tg-3468), and a FreeBSD 11.2 release router. It connects to the router via DHCP, then to PCs via iptv and Wi-Fi. Initially, I faced issues with basic rules and connectivity; now all ports work except one device that refuses to connect. That device had ports forwarded by the router before, so I disabled those settings and gave it a static IP. When I ping its interface IP, it doesn’t reach it even though I manually set it in DHCP. It sometimes appears to use an external IP but shows no network access. Disconnecting Wi-Fi doesn’t help, so I restarted everything. The PCs are running Ubuntu 18.04.3lts with different kernels. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Do you have dual NAT enabled? Swap the router for just a modem. Shouldn't use a switch? Also, does this PC function properly when started from a Linux ISK?

I don’t have access to the ISP, making it difficult to swap it out and restore everything smoothly. Yes, double NAT is an option, though it shouldn’t cause issues. I’ll attempt to run it on a live disk.

Double nat adds extra hassle, so what are you aiming for with PFSense? Consider running the ISP box in bridge mode or obtaining a modem from them. Also, I plan to use a switch here.

the setup lacks a bridge mode option. I can turn off HDCP, but I can't do that either since the iptv setup requires identifying the ports first. The Ubuntu Live installation displays identical issues—connection drops and no IP address assigned.

Is the connection functioning correctly? Can this device operate with alternative ports? Consider using a USB dongle.

checked every port, didn’t make any adjustments (including a different Realtek NIC), what does “link up” actually mean? I’m sorry.

I adjusted one of the NICs I purchased for the firewall to the PC that was causing issues, and the problem was resolved. It seems the NIC wasn't compatible with my setup. Thanks @Electronics Wizardy for your assistance.

For networking devices, in the coming years opt for Intel models that integrate well with pfSense. Additionally, employ a switch.
