Looking at Tomb Raider’s performance on my Asus g750 GTX 860M shows solid results. I’m maintaining steady 60 frames per second at high detail, though there are moments where it drops to around 40 fps. Whether that’s more important depends on your priorities—high frame rates or consistent smoothness. For someone just starting out, the balance between stability and visual fidelity is key.

Increasing detail levels forces the GPU to process more content, which can cause reduced frame rates and noticeable lag. Lowering shadow settings helps improve performance while maintaining visual quality.

It’s a bit personal—some like a nice picture, others prefer something more subdued, and I’m here for both.

Prefer setting it at a higher level for smoother playback; 60fps is great if you drop to lower settings. It's better to have 40fps at 60fps than 60fps at medium.

I focus on achieving the best possible performance with maximum detail, ensuring smooth gameplay even at high resolutions. On my 290x display, I run TR at 4K ultra settings without any graphical enhancements or anti-aliasing issues, and I thoroughly enjoy the experience.

I aim for 50fps, but 40 feels too slow, so I lower the settings to reach that target. Usually I don’t notice much loss in quality. I get a solid mix, and thanks to my decent hardware, the drops can fall into the 40s while the peaks stay around 60. It still works well for me.

I favor a faster frame rate since increasing the numbers beyond a certain level doesn’t provide enough benefit to reach 40 frames per second, in my view.
