Persistent unknown memory issues in Windows 7
It has been several months since the issue started affecting my system. I currently have 16 gigabytes of Corsair memory, but during normal operation only about 6 gigabytes should be used. The system tends to restart once or twice daily when memory usage exceeds 15 gigabytes, and pop-ups appear warning me to close programs. Sometimes it shuts down completely on its own. Recently, I uploaded around 20 gigabytes to YouTube, but the upload failed because the machine had to close during the process. In Task Manager, nothing is visible. I ran all major malware and virus scans, and everything came back clean. Overall, I keep my machine tidy and have handled many challenges over the years. This one remains a mystery—I suspect it might be related to Chrome, but after launching once, something unusual happens in the background. The leaks seem random, and the system can run fine for days or crash when reaching full RAM usage, forcing another restart. In the worst case, I might need to restart again in about 6 to 8 hours. I searched online for similar posts, but nothing matches what I’m experiencing. Would anyone else recognize this situation?
Most memory leaks I encounter relate to a Realtek LAN driver. I mentioned it was nearly universal.
Yes, I've encountered similar issues with my H87M-Pro motherboard. The Realtek Ethernet driver was causing excessive RAM usage, even for normal 16GB and 1-2GB workloads. Switching back to the original Windows driver resolved the problem—interesting!
Yeah, things went wrong... it shows I’m tired enough to pause... that’s why I’m hitting snooze.
