The claim is not accurate. Deactivating Windows does not delay its activation on another machine by 180 days. The time depends on system settings and hardware, not a fixed period.

I've never turned off Windows before, so I'm not sure.

I believe it's due to me turning off Windows 7 and then restarting without any problems.

Turn it off using the command prompt with an internet connection and it should resolve immediately. If not, activate it via SLUI.EXE /4 on the phone.

Phone activation refers to the process of enabling a device or service. To deactivate it using the command prompt, you would typically run specific commands depending on your operating system.

To properly turn it off, press the Windows key plus X and choose Comman Prompt (Admin). In the command prompt, enter slmgr.vbs -upk and press Enter. This removes the product key from the computer and puts it back in trial mode, allowing use on another machine. If issues arise during reinstallation, activate via phone: press Windows key plus X, click Run, then type slui.exe 4. Next press ENTER. Select your country from the list, choose Phone Activation, follow the prompts, enter the long list of numbers provided. If problems persist, contact support for assistance.
