Performing a MOBO swap on a Win 8 OEM system
The Windows license is linked to the motherboard; once you change it, you'll need to reactivate it. I'd prefer to hold off until Skylake comes out, which should follow Broadwell a few months later.
Thx for the replay, so all i need to do is re re-activate? It will not give me a msg that the key is being used if i do that? Also, good point on waiting for skylake. its just that its on LGA 1151 witch should have the same hole placement as 1150 but I really like the Z97-WS. If the performance differences will be significant enough going from a 2600k to broadwell than ill just go for that, if not then ill wait for skylake. I think that's my plan now.
