Hello everyone, I just purchased a Ryzen 5 3600 with a b450 tomahawk max. I’m currently operating at normal speeds with the stock cooler installed. During idle, temperatures stay just under 50°C. When I run Prime95, the temps climb to around 95°C (the max setting) within 8-10 minutes. I’m also using a R9 200 Series graphics card, which will briefly drop to half its clock speed every 20-30 seconds under heavy load using FurMark. Is this typical behavior? Thanks, Henry. I’m considering upgrading to a better graphics card since I’m currently on a tight budget.

I own that CPU. The stock cooler is terrible. I installed two 120mm fans on a 120mm deep cool tower cooler. On the Cinebench R20 it reaches about 72°C, which is around 55°C plus or minus 5%.

The stock cooler would be enough.. You might have messed up the thermal paste.. cuz I also had similar problems with my stock cooler on ryzen 3.. I re-applied the thermal paste and it worked just fine ( 80-90C at max load) and that too an APU!
