I possess an Intel Core i5 10300H in a compact gaming laptop from MSI. It previously overheated significantly, often surpassing 90°C. To manage this, I lowered the processor's maximum performance to 99%, which stopped the overheating but cut its top speed to 2.4GHz. I also attempted to undervolt the CPU so it could run at full capacity without overheating, but this didn’t succeed. After undervolting, even when I restored the original settings and reinstalled software, the CPU never exceeded its base speed. Could there be another issue affecting performance?

Check HWinfo64 for detailed per-core performance. Adjust your view to see actual clock speeds instead of Task Manager estimates.

It seems the task manager isn't accurately displaying the CPU speed. During a stress test on an Intel XTU, it stayed below 2.5GHz. Previously, under load, it showed 3.8-4.2GHz, but now it consistently stays at 2.5GHz. It looks like the undervolting adjustment might have affected the readings, though restoring everything to defaults didn't fix the issue.
