Performance Question 14600k - Temperatures
I recently upgraded from an i5-12600K to a i5-14600K on an MSI PRO-Z690-A DDR4 with the latest BIOS.
The cooler I used is a Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE in a Corsaird 4000D Airflow case.
After adjusting the fan profiles and applying XMP for RAM, I kept the default settings (PL1-PL2 at 181W) and CPU Lite Mode 18 as the default.
When I ran cinebench, I was concerned because temperatures reached 90°+.
I stopped the test and rechecked the BIOS settings.
First, I ran a test lowering CPU Lite Mode to 14, achieving a score of 1291 with a max temp of 91° C.
Then I disabled IA CEP Support (both normal and 14th gen versions) and lowered CPU Lite Mode to 12, resulting in a score of 1294 and a max temp of 87° C.
I also tried CPU Lite Mode 9, which gave a score of 1286 and a max temp of 82° C.
Can I try another lower value? Or should I avoid it given the 8-point impact?

PS: Until I switched to CPU Lite Mode 9, the "Core Power Limit Exceeded" warning appeared.
PPS: I also played Cyberpunk 2077 at 1080p with an RTX 5070 and noticed I still struggled to maintain 138-144 fps in crowded areas. Is this typical?

CPU by itself, with minimal GPU limitation, typically delivers around 167 FPS in CP2077.
GPU by itself, with minimal CPU interference, averages about 157 FPS in CP2077.
Keep in mind these are average figures; performance can vary, dropping to roughly 140 FPS in busy environments and reaching approximately 180 FPS in quieter settings. Overall, an average of about 160 FPS.
The processor is built to operate up to 100c. If it comes close, it's fine. Just handle voltage adjustments carefully. The newest bios updates should adjust the motherboard settings to more sensible values.
The default voltage settings seemed really high, literally starting cinebench made the CPU go to 90°C and full fan speed.
Also, I've noticed a part in HWInfo, with "Performance Limit Reasons" and there are some YES values, what does it mean?
