Performance problems arise when Windows 10 identifies a microphone input.
Super strange issue, I already contacted Microsoft and they are looking into it with a T3 but maybe there is an expert on here that may know. What is happening is anytime windows 10 detects any mic from any source(mobo, my interface, or soundcard, nvidia shadow play, doesn't seem to matter what it is) is being used I get speed issues.I have a gig and it cuts it down in half id not more usually 500-750+ MBPS. It only does it once it notices a mic is being detected too even one like built-in win 10 recorder will cut the speeds. i have clean wiped a few times. made sure drivers were up to date or trying different driver revisions. I was able to load up discord w/o it being detected as using a mic only once and I had 0 issues I already contacted Microsoft and they are looking into it and think it may be a bug with windows 10 but they are not sure as of yet. System Win10 2004 up to date Motherboard: z270e strix Ram: 16 gigs Gskill Processor: 7700k Sound card: Creative sound blaster zx Gpu: 1080Ti x2 Interface: Scarlett 2i2
Confirming the focus is on internet or download speeds, not processor clock speeds. This appears to be an AV-related concern, especially if you're not using Windows Defender.
Just now noticed the app didn’t show any reply notification. Internet speed is decent, though I only use Windows Defender. After a clean reset, I ran a speed test and it was fine, but using anything with a microphone or Windows issues causes my connection to drop. I’m still collaborating with Microsoft—they’ve collected a lot of logs and believe it might be a Windows 10 bug, though they’re not yet certain.
