I also faced the same issue with Super Smash Bros Melee. It didn’t run smoothly no matter how I adjusted the settings.

I possess a configuration that functioned well for me with Pokémon. The settings were FPS at 30 and VPS at 60, delivering smooth gameplay without audio issues. Some attack effects appear to create odd lines, but overall it works. You can view my setup here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/0t85fz. Others have noted that certain games struggle at 60FPS, though the difference between 60 and 30FPS on an emulator is minimal.

Generally, enable Dual Core Framelimit for audio, leave the FPS limit unchecked. Use the JIT recompiler and right-click the game to check the VBeam Speed Hack Audio option. It varies by title; some require HSP LLE for proper music playback or risk freezing. Running the game on a separate thread can improve performance slightly but may cause crashes in certain games. The backend options include Dsound, Dolphin 4.2 with Graphics, VSync for smooth visuals (though it can strain older systems), DirectX9 (deprecated) or OpenGL with Vertex hack for optimal speed. For hacks, adjust settings except disabling EFP copies, and set texture mode while disabling Destination Alpha. Many titles run smoothly on an I5/I7 without extra cores, but some levels—like water in Mario Galaxies—may need a dedicated core for audio. AMD’s emulator tends to struggle with these changes. Most games automatically disable non-working hacks; try the suggested tweaks and see what works.

I’m confused about the slow performance, even though my machine is just as powerful. I’ll share my specs and a video showing it at 30fps on a VPS60.

Dolphin stands out as a top emulator I've tried...it's definitely not as refined as an original SNES version, but it still works well.

The software runs smoothly at 4K 8x MSAA and 16 AF at 60fps across all games I play. Which version are you running?
