I owned a 3600 and a friend helped finance a 5600X purchase. I received it two days ago, but performance hasn't been great. I haven't played many games now, so I don't remember my previous frame rates. I ran Timespy and Superposition tests, but my scores are lower than expected. On Timespy, my CPU score is only a small improvement, and compared to others with similar specs, I should be closer to 23% better. On the 3600 I'd expect around 6500, and with the 5600X about 7300—values that match most people's results of 8000-8500. In Superposition, my score is roughly 80 points higher, which means about 1.5fps more on average. This was tested at full resolution (2160x2160) with the VR Test, but some runs gave worse results depending on background apps. I've noticed the 5600X sometimes drops to around 3.7ghz, even when I turn it off, and it fluctuates between 2.9ghz and 3.6ghz when idle. It stays at 3.6ghz under load but drops suddenly. I'm not experiencing thermal throttling, though it still falls to 2.9ghz at times. In Windows Power Options I've enabled maximum performance, but it still drops to 2.9ghz. Why is this happening? I'm using an ASUS B550-board and only have Patch B installed, not the newer Patch C. Could this be affecting my performance relative to others?
