The thermal density is significantly greater here. I don’t have it nearby, but I’m prepared to try—it could be tough to manage the heat. I installed Deep Cool Assassin 3 on my 5GHz 1.38V 8700k and it performed well, but that doesn’t guarantee success with the 5800x.

The cooler might perform better than mine, but it's quite challenging to keep it cool. I usually reach temperatures between 36-40°C during idle, and even small changes in my PC lead to frequent overheating.

There are solid reasons why the 5800x might struggle more with cooling compared to the 10700k or 5900x. Its lower density means fewer components can be packed, which limits heat spreading. Adding two CCXs helps distribute thermal currents more effectively.

The performance peaks at 90°C after just a few minutes on the Cinebench R23, using all stock configurations with a fuma2. It starts low for about 30 seconds. While gaming demands are high, the system still operates smoothly in the 70s, which is ideal. Improving the cooling or paste application could lower the temperatures further. The price seems justified at $450, offering top speed. Should I opt for the current setup or invest an extra $100 for more cores that few will actually use?

consider exploring a 240 AIO setup. I attempted a setup with two 140mm fans using nh_c14s, but it quickly became problematic. Switching to a 240mm AIO made it workable, though performance still peaks around 85°C on all-core cinebench. Running at 50 or 60% load for tasks like web browsing or general use was manageable, and it performed well. For comparison, my 5900 stays about 20°C cooler in the same system, even during Cinebench all-core. The main drawback is that my 5800 still delivers significantly better single-core performance and can reach 5.1GHz with PBO/curve optimizer, whereas the 5900 falls short at 5.0GHz.

It's really wild. My cooler is a Dark Rock Pro 4, and even normal use made it jump a lot.
