Hi!
I had an older laptop with Intel HD 3000 graphics. It handled cs:go at medium-low settings smoothly, cs:go TF2 at the lowest, and Minecraft well. Now I own a newer model with Intel HD 5500. In cs:go it stalls at 15-20 fps on the lowest, TF2 is poor too, and Minecraft runs around 45-50 fps. I removed GameBar but didn’t see any improvement.

My old machine ran Linux.
Old laptop: I5-2520m, 2x4gb DDR3 ram
New laptop: i5-5300U, 1x8 GB DDR3L 1600mhz

Can you post the complete specs/model of notebook you're talking about? In particular CPU and RAM?

The CPUs perform quite similarly, with the 5300U being marginally quicker yet consuming significantly less energy. The new iGPU also doesn't offer much improvement in speed. The main distinction lies in the previous laptop's dual RAM modules, providing dual-channel memory, whereas the current model uses a single stick. Because iGPUs rely heavily on memory speed, this change likely contributes to reduced performance.

Another factor might be thermal throttling. Observing temperatures and clock speeds during gaming or benchmark tests could reveal if the newer notebook overheats more. It's conceivable the cooler is less effective due to lower power demands from the CPU, potentially restricting sustained boost performance.
