Performance issues with Chrome games across various devices.
My current configuration includes three monitors: a 144Hz G-Sync in the center as my primary display, a 4K BenQ on the left, and an Acer 1080p Free Sync on the right. The system runs a Ryzen 9 9900X with 64GB DDR5 RAM, paired with an RTX 4080 graphics card and Windows 11 Pro. I frequently stream or watch videos on the second monitor. With frequent mouse movements, I always use borderless full-screen mode. Recently, animations in Google Chrome have caused my game to lag—sometimes from YouTube clips, other times from looping images on Twitter, or even from voice effects in Google Voice where the icon pulses during speech. It seems my game frequently drops to low FPS when these visuals play. In Fortnite, my FPS tracker shows rapid swings from 140fps to 30fps, with noticeable drops. The problem disappears on pages without animations, like the Google homepage. I’ve tried disabling video acceleration in Chrome, turning off Free Sync and G-Sync on all monitors, and setting a power limit for games. These changes helped temporarily, but the issue returned. I also moved the entire monitor away from the RTX 4080 to its own GPU, which is why the WX7100 works better. I’ve updated Chrome and the GPU several times, but the problem still occurs when playing videos from other sources. Using a desktop mirroring app sometimes reveals the issue, though it may take time or require a restart to appear.
