Maintaining maximum performance should be constant, regardless of circumstances. This practice consistently forces the Nvidia graphics card to operate at its highest speed continuously, hindering proper cooling during breaks between scenes or when the card is inactive. It doesn't actually improve performance, but instead limits it to a sustained elevated speed.

I suspect the recent Turing graphics architecture from Nvidia is causing these issues—when I replaced a previous Pascal card with another, the games performed as expected. Interestingly, my 2080 graphics card has required two return requests (RMAs), along with a motherboard and power supply unit replacement. It appears we may need to wait for updated drivers to resolve this situation.
