Performance issues on a decent PC
Hello everyone
A few weeks ago I assembled my first PC and everything worked perfectly. But when playing demanding games like CSGO, GTA V, Gmod and Wreckfest, I experience frequent frame drops and stuttering. I've been working on it for over a week and it's really frustrating. I've tried various solutions such as adjusting XMP settings, reinstalling drivers, changing power plans, etc. The temperatures are normal and the system stays cool. In MSI Afterburner, the GPU usage in GTA V is only around 40%, which seems unusual. My CPU usage is also low, about 20%.
Here are my specifications:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 1660
RAM: 16GB 3600Mhz
Motherboard: MSI MPG B550 gaming edge wifi
Power Supply: Asus TUF 650W
Storage: Samsung 980 500GB, Seagate Barracuda 1TB
Case: Be Quiet 500DX
I've talked about this issue on several forums but haven't gotten much help. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
It seems the GPU is not performing well, possibly due to a driver issue since you've tried several drivers without much success. The benchmark also indicated high background CPU usage, which doesn't match your experience of low background activity. Additionally, there have been issues with Samsung Magician failing to detect your SSD. How might this be related?
If you did the 5 mins and UBM is correct you have something hammering on the pc.
Reboot and watch task manager see if something jumps out.
None appears to consume excessive CPU, just occasional system interrupts with minimal usage.
