I’m new to playing games on a personal computer and really enjoying it! Lately, I've been experiencing problems with frame rates. I frequently see others achieving impressive frame rates – often exceeding 200 FPS – using older graphics cards and processors while I'm only managing around 100 FPS. Below is a description of my hardware configuration. Today, I experimented by activating VSync within the settings for Apex Legends and noticed a notable boost in performance, reaching nearly 165 FPS. Could you explain why this happened? I’m wondering if I should be obtaining higher frame rates with my system when VSYNC is disabled, considering that many sources suggest disabling it to prevent lag. Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated! Also, I have an 11.5” secondary monitor; could this potentially be influencing my results since I'm striving for maximum performance from my GPU?

My specifications:
Intel Core i7-8700K
Gigabyte RTX 2080 GeForce OC
Corsair RGB Pro 16GB
Dell 24” GSYNC Monitor Overclocked to 165Hz

What are the CPU and GPU temperatures and utilization rates while playing the game? What is the manufacturer and specific model of the power supply unit (PSU)?

I need to verify the temperatures later this evening, but my power supply unit is a Gigabyte P650B with an 80 Plus Bronze certification.
