I purchased Far Cry 4 a while back, but I’m facing performance issues on my PC. On Ultra I’m getting around 30-35 FPS, and on Low it’s about 50 FPS. My GPU is the GTX 780 with an FX 8350 as the CPU, and others are reporting 60 FPS. What could I be doing incorrectly? Need some guidance.

Have you optimized your CPU?

No, my CPU isn't overclocked. For the game it's 1.7.0 and the GPU is 347.09.

That could be the issue. FC4 is basically a single threaded game(it uses multiple threads, but only one of them pulls most of the weight), so basically the poor single thread performance that FX's have is holding the game back(or your GPU). This isn't the CPU's fault, just Ubisoft's lazy/dumb coding, but sadly AMD's architecture gets the short end of the stick(which is why I am boycotting Ubisoft). If you OC you can squeeze more FPS(probably up to 10), but don't wait for a patch since that's never coming. I found this article that shows the Intel vs AMD performance numbers(which not to start a war, but to show the difference between a multithread dependent CPU vs a strong single thread CPU), and a non OC'd FX vs a OC'd FX CPU.

The problem is the Nvidia drivers. For the 780 on Far Cry 4 lots of people have noticed issues. It's a very powerful card, great hardware but the question is how much effort Nvidia puts into optimizing drivers for Kepler. http://www.hardocp.com/article/2015/01/0...e_review/6 Another source http://www.techspot.com/review/917-far-c...page3.html With decent drivers you would expect to hang near to the R9 290. Fortunately you're not the only one who has noticed http://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comment...cards_has/

That's a bit of a situation. It sounds like you're facing some technical issues, possibly related to Nvidia.

The issue is resolved, I just increased the CPU speed to 4.5 and achieved an average of 56 frames per second.
