I own an Asus STRIX GTX 960 with 2GB RAM and an AMD FX6300 processor. It handles CS:GO at maximum settings (except MSAA which runs at double speed, equating to 4x MFAA) around 130 FPS. Occasionally it drops to roughly 30 FPS for about a second, especially in certain map areas. I’ve updated the graphics and audio drivers and turned off core parking. Anyone know what might be causing this?

I previously experienced FPS reductions that weren’t extreme but still noticeable. I resolved it by checking for background processes that might consume CPU resources.

I always ensure no other processes are using the CPU.

The Windows 10 upgrade appears to have resolved the issue. Likely, a clean installation was required.
