Hi, your i7 4770 with a Noctua NH-D15 is getting noisy when it's under heavy load. It seems the cooling kicked in only after a short delay following CPU stress, matching the temperature readings from HWMonitor. Once it drops to around 30-40°C, it rapidly switches to full cooling and then spikes to nearly 90°C, causing the fan to spin up. Even after swapping the coolant paste and reattaching the cooler, the problem continues. The system is running on an OCZ MXP 600W PSU with your i7 GTX 970 ASUS H87M Pro.

Is your motherboard equipped with settings for configuring a fan curve? If yes, it should also allow adjusting the temperature monitoring frequency. Experimenting with higher check intervals might help activate the fan earlier.

You're experiencing the well-known asIO.sys (2) issue. I understand the frustration—turning off CPU turbo in BIOS helped reduce temperatures, but the issue persists. Disabling CPU fan monitoring also resolved some of the problems. Let me know how this affects you, and I'll help further.
